SERA AND SCHNEIDER SHARE THE SPOILS IN LEOPARD FINAL

Victorian kart racers David Sera and Justin Schneider have shared the spoils in the Toyota IAME Leopard Final Shootout held at the Lincoln County Raceway in Dubbo, New South Wales last weekend.

Sera was simply dominant in the Leopard Light category to secure pole position during qualifying, remain undefeated in the heat races, take out the Pre-Final before cruising to victory in the Final.

Following Sera across the line, albeit the length of the straight behind, was Leigh Gallace. Sera’s victory was his third straight victory in the Event.

“I’m stoked to have won this Event three years in a row, after last year’s dominance of the class 2008 hasn’t been as successful so I’m glad that I’ve been able to close it out with a win,” said Sera.

“My Arrow kart was simply awesome from the time we dropped it onto the track for the first time until the chequered flag, I couldn’t have asked for more.

“This Event is gaining more prestige with every year and the prizes offered by Remo and his team at Remo Racing are superb.”

Finishing in third place was National Champion, James Sera. Toowoomba’s Brendon Nelson appeared to have the pace to match it with the leading trio, however, a mechanical failure in the pre-final force him to start from the back of the grid in the final.

Local Dubbo driver Phil King finished in sixth spot.

Just as Sera was in the Light Division Schneider dominant in the Heavy class.

Queenslanders Matt Greenbury, Nathan Mills and Kel Treseder threw out the challenges in the heat races and pre-final but Schneider held strong to win each of the three qualifying events.

In the final Schneider was passed entering the first corner but after sitting second for a few laps he made his race winning move before cruising to victory to claim the Toyota Yaris car valed at $18,000.

New South Wales driver Daniel Stein showed some impressive speed in the final to finish second ahead of Mills.

In total there was over $100,000 of prizes distributed over the weekend and the Managing Director of Remo Racing, Remo Luciani, was extremely pleased with the fourth running of the Toyota IAME Leopard Final Shootout.

"I was extremely proud to see the quality of the drivers who came to support this prestigous event, it made me feel so proud of all the hard work I have put into Leopard Class over the years to see these young drivers take this event so seriously,” said Luciani.

“Many of the drivers are the same names for four years running as they consider this to be the richest prize giving event in Karting world-wide

"I was extremely please with the 54 entrants we received as they were all high quality drivers and capable of winning. The track presentation was outstanding with plenty of banners and flags surrounding the circuit to give it the atmosphere that something huge was happening.

"David Sera and Justin Schneider thoroughly deserved the motorcars with their dominating performance as they both qualified pole in time-trials, pole in Top-Ten Shootout and winning every heat, pre-final and final - an A class act by both of them.

"Congratulations must be given to the few hard working Dubbo Club members who presented it to the highest standards possible."

"David Tapp's Power Productions professional crew had set-up the circuit with three fixed camera's and four on-board cameras to capture all the racing action, all of which is soon to be broadcast on Fox Sports.

"Gordon Cooper was a huge assistance with his photographic expertise and we had the pleasure of having glamorous Kylie Howard performing the Australian National Anthem.

"Also adding to the great atmosphere was the Grizzly girls Bec and Sandra handing out free energy drinks to competitors and spectators.

"I would like to thank all competitors, pit crews, family for making this such a happy family event.

James Sera won the "Loyalty prize draw" where everyone who had competed in ALL their State Series Rounds went were included while Blake Mooney won the "Shootout prize draw" where all entrants of the Shootout went into the draw.

As a result both of the won a fully funded drive to the 2009 IAME International Challenge where everything including airfares, accommodation, entry, equipment, travel are all included.

Remo Racing will announce the format for the 2009 National Leopard Challenge in the near future.

Last weekend’s Event will be broadcast on two one-hour shows on Fox Sports 2. It will screen on Monday November 3 at 10:00pm (AEDST) and replayed in full the following morning at 9:00am.

A message from REMO RACING, promoter of the Australian Toyota IAME Leopard Series.

Here is the final entry list click here. We are extremely happy with 54 entries in 2 classes, Leopard Light and Leopard Heavy considering we know we lost a considerable amount of drivers to the Indy Cars and V8's on the same weekend at the Gold Coast.

It is a very high quality field of drivers who are serious about their racing.  Many entrants also being current Australian and State Champions.

The entry numbers are excellent considering it is not the Australian Nationals Championships for Leopard. In fact, we had our Australian Championship Titles in March this year at Tasmania and we were "OVER-SUBSCRIBED".

For this FINAL SHOOTOUT we only drew from the Leopard Series competitors who competed in a 4 to 5 round Series in their respective State this year which included NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, & TAS competitors.

The Final Shootout is an 'End of Year Party' with $100,000.00 worth of prizes to be given away to reward those competitors who supported the Leopard Series throughout 2008.

We thank all Leopard Competitors and wish you good luck on winning one of 2 Toyota Yaris Motorcars up for grabs at our 4th Annual Leopard Final Shootout.  Our 8th new car giveaway to date!
